Why I Accepted a Fixed-term Position: A Short Publicis Sapient Review

I am an HR person, a technical recruiter to be specific, having 10+ years of experience. During my entire job tenure, I have always worked in a permanent position. So, when I got a job offer for a one-year position in January 2018, I was a bit skeptical. I mean a 30% salary hike, good health and retirement benefits, good brand name, good work profile and everything looked great, except the fixed term part!

To overcome the fear, I took Publicis Sapient Gurgaon feedback from some of my colleagues and seniors to understand what to do. During this process, I also had an offer from BYJU’s for a permanent role for almost the same salary package.

Why I took a fixed-term position?

I know that nowadays many organizations offer contractual positions due to frequent changes in skills and needs of the company and amid scenarios like the COVID pandemic, effect on business’ profits can be huge.

To analyze all aspects better, I did a SWOT analysis and took the decision. Here are some of the points I considered:

·       Strength: I am getting a good job profile where there is a promise of work-life balance. Salary negotiations went fine where I got all privileges of permanent employees like EPF, health insurance and gratuity. So, technically, I will be on fixed term employment, but I will get the same salary benefits. Normally organizations do not offer such benefits.

·       Weakness: I will be in a year-long fixed term position. So, there may be job security issue along with the pressure to do more work. I talked to 5 people who work there to get an honest Publicis Sapient review and got a positive feedback regarding my concerns.

·       Opportunity: Working in a global team will be a good learning experience. I have worked in good organizations like India Mart and Hirist; working in an IT company will be a good change. I have recruited people as part of a recruitment agency, so working in an IT organization will provide a different perspective.

·       Threat: If I ever have to change my job in future, then I will have to justify why I took a contractual position. Some organizations may perceive it as a weakness and may give me a less deserving job profile. It is one serious risk, but I am confident of my skills and work. So I just hope everything works out!

After I joined the organization, I sought many Publicis Sapient Gurgaon reviews to understand the position and reduce anxiety. Till now, I have gotten positive examples only, so fingers crossed!
